SPITFIRE STUDIO STRINGS — CORE & PROFESSIONAL
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STUDIO STRINGS AND STUDIO STRINGS PROFESSIONAL?
The Core version of Studio Strings features a standard (8, 6, 6, 6, 4) player setup, with access to the default Tree microphone position.
With Professional, you have access to 7 extra unique microphone positions, a large band section (16, 12, 12, 12, 4) and 2 divisi sections (4, 3, 3, 3), on top of what is offered in the Core version. You can use these divisi options to create a chamber section, or even layer them with larger sections.
IS THERE A CROSSGRADE PATH TO SPITFIRE STUDIO STRINGS PROFESSIONAL?
Yes, the upgrade price is simply the price difference between the two products at the point of purchase.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM CHAMBER & SYMPHONIC STRINGS?
Symphonic Strings and Chamber Strings were both recorded in the iconic Lyndhurst Hall at AIR Studios. Due to the huge space, these libraries are very ambient by nature.
Studio Strings was recorded in the smaller studio space of Air Studio One, giving us the ability to truly focus on the beauty and unique qualities of the instruments themselves. If it’s control, fine detail and versatility you’re after, Studio Strings is your core component for fresh new avenues of composition.
IF I UPGRADE TO STUDIO STRINGS PROFESSIONAL FROM STUDIO STRINGS, DO I NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE SAME SAMPLES TWICE?
Yes, they are separate libraries which appear separately in the Spitfire Audio App and are installed and registered separately with Native Instruments.
IS SPITFIRE STUDIO STRINGS AVAILABLE WITH AN EDUCATIONAL DISCOUNT?
Yes, this library will be available with an educational discount.
WHAT IS A DRY LIBRARY?
A ‘dry’ library is recorded in a room with little to no reverberance and without any natural hall response. A great benefit to using a dry library is that you will have much more control and flexibility in how you choose to process the samples.
WHAT IS DIVISI?
Within Studio Strings Professional, divisi is the division of a single section of instruments. What this means is that the section is ‘split’ in half, freeing up the section and allowing different parts to be played. Something to consider when writing with divided parts is that the overall ‘presence’ of the section will be less with each division, due to the smaller number of players.
