IS THIS PRODUCT AVAILABLE WITH AN EDUCATIONAL DISCOUNT?
Yes, this library will be available with an educational discount. Request your educational discount here. The Educational Discount will apply to the full RRP of the library, not the introductory offer, so any codes received during the promotional period will only “top up” the discount to 30%.
CAN I USE THIS LIBRARY ON MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER?
Yes, this is a single user license, but our EULA allows for installation on up to two computers at a time.
IF I WANT TO INSTALL THIS LIBRARY ON A SECOND COMPUTER, DO I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT AGAIN?
No, you can simply copy the “Spitfire Audio - BBC Symphony Orchestra” folder over and use the Repair feature in the Spitfire Audio App to ensure the plugin can find all the content that it needs.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BUYING THE PRODUCT ON YOUR EXTERNAL SSD?
We recommend you buy the library on our 1TB External Solid State Drive, as the library is ~600GB. You can add this to your cart on the BBC Symphony Orchestra product page. The library will run directly from the external drive for instantly playability, saving space on your internal hard drive. The library is also available on our standard external hard drive which you can add to your cart at checkout, but it can be slower to load given the size of the library.
WHAT IS THE SSD MODEL?
The external SSD is a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, housed in our bespoke Spitfire Audio hard case. For full specs, click here.
WHERE IS MY HARD DRIVE?
Once your SSD has been dispatched, you will receive a tracking number via email. Delivery times are next day for UK, 2-3 business days for Europe and 3-5 business days for international orders.
WHY IS BBCSO PROFESSIONAL IN YOUR OWN PLUGIN, AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Our own plugin is constantly evolving with new features and optimisations that aren’t possible in Kontakt. We can do more in depth sampling, and offer all 20 signal options without any risk of crashing. BBC Symphony Orchestra was originally 1.4TB, but we have compressed it to ~600GB in a lossless format, which compresses the data further than Kontakt sample files for perfect sample quality at smaller download sizes. We also give you Global Memory Sharing, meaning you’ll only ever load one version of a sample into RAM, and the modulators react much more quickly.
HOW DOES YOUR DEDICATED PLUGIN WORK?
Our dedicated plugin libraries work as standalone instruments in your DAW, meaning that no serial number is provided and the authorisation process happens during your download. We provide an AU, VST2, VST3 and an AAX, so as long as your chosen DAW supports one of those plugin formats, you’re good to go.
WHAT’S IN THE LEGATO PATCHES?
Each of the main instruments (leader and group) includes a legato patch. The strings legato patches include both portamento and slurred transitions, as well as short notes, for a more agile, varied performance. The flute and piccolo ‘Extended’ legato patches include normal slurred transitions, fast run transitions and short staccato notes, all in one patch.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BBC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND SPITFIRE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA?
BBC Symphony Orchestra sample library, presented in its own dedicated plugin, has been recorded at the world famous Maida Vale Studio 1, London. This space has a tighter, more controlled sound than many other large hall spaces, and a professional scoring stage used by the BBC for many of its famous performances, from the BBC SO to The Beatles, Hendrix and Bowie, to name a few. The BBC SO has been performing and touring the world since the 1930s. Priding themselves on their live performances, these world class players are one of the most respected orchestras in the world. Their sound offers a precise cohesion and polished performances unlike any other.
Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (SSO), presented in 3 Kontakt plugins: Strings, Brass & Woodwinds, is recorded at the home of film scoring — The Hall at AIR Studios — a rich, natural sounding hall space. Best known for its famous score recordings including the Harry Potter films, Inception, the Batman trilogy, Life of Pi, Isle of Dogs, Paddington 2, and many more. The orchestra is made up of London’s finest session musicians, known for their work with best composers (Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Harry Gregson-Williams and more) on many blockbuster films, AAA Games and hit TV shows. A definitive, professional level orchestral anthology, SSO gives you a realistic, cinematic blockbuster sound.
