Yes, the samples folder is arranged such that you can copy part of the library onto a hard drive if you are short on space.
The best way to do this is to create a whole new library with a new name called "Bernard Herrmann Composer Toolkit (Cut Down)" or something similar. Please remember to keep the folder structure the same and to include all of the system files.
So for example, if you wished to take the "Trumpet and Xylophone" patch with you (without the stereo mixes), you could arrange a folder of only just over 2GB like this:
