Without exception the pet favourite library of everyone who works at Spitfire has been the Sable chamber strings library. A rare set of recordings featuring just 16 players, proving that small can be more beautiful and that detailed sampling makes for better composing! We’re happy too that Sable has a core global following of dedicated and in many ways patient users.
It has been a 4 year labour of love, growing, blooming into a very detailed sampling project. However as users and developers who take pride in listening to our customers, we understand that it has been an incredibly difficult library to maintain, and for new users it has all the appeal of a kit car!
For this reason, we have retired Sable in favour of a rationalised and refreshed new product.
Spitfire Chamber Strings is at an RRP of £549. We also have an “expansion pack” available for Spitfire Chamber Strings, aimed at those of you wanting all the bells and whistles of the original Sable. without the fuss, retailing at £349 RRP.
All current users of Sable have a discounted crossgrade to both products with owners of all 5 volumes getting both Spitfire Chamber Strings and the Expansion Pack for free. We have also paid for the Kontakt Player license for all existing users and will not pass that cost on to you.

What is in Spitfire Chamber Strings?
16 star players, 4 1st Violins, 3 2nd Violins, 3 Violas, 3 Cellos & 3 Basses super deep sampled with over 244 articulations, including 38 shorts, 53 longs, 19 FX, and 45 extraordinary legato patches programmed by Andrew Blaney. Recorded with multiple round robins, dynamic layers and presented with 3 essential and versatile microphone positions. In addition to each individual section we also have a comprehensive selection of articulations and techniques presented in an ‘ensemble’ format designed for sketching and composing with ‘out of the box’ satisfaction.
What ISN’T in Spitfire Chamber Strings that is in Sable?
Frankly the tons of mic positions and stereo mixes. We’ve listened to many of you and it is simply the case that not all of you want, use or have space and a download capability for all these additional mics and mixes. So Spitfire Chamber Strings contains three diverse sounding mics (Close, Tree, Ambient) which allow Chamber Strings to be used on a variety of uses from expansive Hollywood to tight Pop.
More importantly, the structural file complications of Sable are no longer in Spitfire Chamber Strings, so maintaining and upgrading it will become a thing of pleasure not of pain!

What IS in Spitfire Chamber Strings that isn’t in Sable?
Spitfire Chamber Strings is now a Kontakt Player library which you can access from your library pane. It has a simplified folder architecture that offers accessibility to newbies and intuitive ease of use and convenience for veterans.
We’re proud to announce that Spitfire Chamber Strings is our first product to ship with Native Control Standard offering ease of use with Native Instruments’ excellent keyboard controllers.

Spitfire Chamber Strings comes with a more intuitive GUI including inline help, so you can boot up and play without having to consult user manuals, search the internet, or get your mates round to help you use it!
Whilst we pride ourselves on the quality of our wares, Sable has been a complicated beast to maintain. So we’ve given it a spring clean, safe in the knowledge that the update now is a simple ‘start from scratch’ ensuring you all get the product we want you to have!
I already own everything why crossgrade even if it is for free?
Other than the enhancements we have already talked of we have to admit it’s for you that we have worked months to do this for. We have listened to your feedback and your wonderful music. We have shared with you our love of this library but it has become increasingly difficult to maintain, update and care for.
