In this video, Jack takes you through how to open a 'non-player' library in Kontakt full.
Non player libraries do not load into the libraries tab of Kontakt as they do not have an NI serial number. This means non-player libraries will not work in Kontakt Player.
Native Instruments offer a crossgrade discount. Please see here for more information and to check your eligibility.

It would be sensible if this was included in the instructions when you buy a 'non-player library'.
Would also be nice if it were clearer that these products will not show in your list of instruments and you have to manually navigate your forest of files to load them...
^ Agreed. A bit of a pain to load.
^ +1. Quite a poor show.
Definitely a pain to load. I've found that placing the folder into the 'quickload browser' practically solves this problem as it becomes available on the main page.
Oh, oh, oh... after downloading all the free libraries, you indeed arrive here where
it is told that they won't work when you don't have the full Kontakt indeed
Why oh why?
It reminds me that I had bought two apps a month ago, which, also afterwards, didn't seem to work in
only the K-player. That was sooo disappointing. And painful (inclusive for the developer, a nice guy) to get my money back.
There is a very irritating compatibility-problem between al lot of libraries and apps and Kontakt/Kontakt Player. Never experienced that in other players or whatever hosts.
I suppose this is not a way to sell more to irritated costumers who finally give up and
by the full Kontakt to be saved from all the fuss?
If not; why? It's just a question of programming and coordination no?
This time Spitfire, before Sound Hub (Sound Dust).
And all sounded great...
:(
THIS IS SO USER UNFRIENDLY. STILL HAVE'NT GOT IT WORKING. DONE EVERYTHING AS INSTRUCTED AND EVEN BOUGHT HD VERSION. ITS GOOD THAT THE MARKETING DEPT OF SPITFIRE DOSE'NT ADVERTISE THIS AS PLUG-IN AND PLAY BECAUSE IT IS THE TOTAL OPPOSITE.....CANT PLUG-IN OR PLAY. HEY!.. WHY DONT THEY MAKE ANOTHER CUMBERSUM VIDEO ABOUT HOW 'NOT' TO USE SPITFIRE? THAT WOULD BE MORE REALISTIC AND HELPFUL.

I wonder how much it would cost Spitfire to use NIs authorisation... I'm assuming that is the reason they don't do it. Maybe it's because the interfaces are not complaint with Complete Kontrol though, who knows. Not what you expect from a big name publisher of high end librairies though, is it?
Awful, very clunky and not impressed at all. Is this the best a major publisher can do? I think I shall start looking at alternative products.
Wow. Permanently lost a potential spitfire customer. Thank goodness I only wasted $29 to find out. I will be sure to warn off everyone I know.
So you just lost another spitfire customer. I ordered and installed the BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover edition to try it out. Now I find out that I can't use it with the Kontakt Player edition!
If you had been up-front about this, it wouldn't have been much of an issue. Finding out this "gotcha" after the fact is unethical! I don't purchase from unethical companies.
Are you offended by me calling you unethical? Tough! Deal with it.
Honestly these banks are pretty expensive for most producers. If you have to pay that much for a library it should be able to be on the kontakt side banks like the other banks.
Hello,
I went for the discover plugin and i'm trying to make it work in Kontakt for more than 2 hours now.
I'm deceived & tend to agree with most comments above regarding the poor user friendliness
A chance that i did not buy the Core version....and i won't if the solution can't be provided in a clear way
Thx for your lights
François
I just got the Black Friday Ton deal. Orchestral Swarm has a serial number and loads in Kontakt fine. Harp and Riccotti Mallets don't have serial numbers and there are no instructions how to get them working. This is TERRIBLE customer service. If you don't want to pay for the NI licenses then why not put it in your own instrument GUI, like with the Symphonic Motions?
hey Andrew, I had the same problem. you have to locate the harp and mallets under files on Kontakt player and load them in manually. maybe first locate them on finder so you know where they are. Hope that helps
Hi Simon
Andrew’s comment is correct. You have to locate the nki file under the file section of Kontakt. It’s a bit of a pain but it’ll be easy after you do it once.
Hi Folks,
Thanks for your feedback regarding these libraries andrew smith. On each of the product pages for Ricotti Mallets, and Spitfire Harp state that these are Kontakt Full libraries, but I appreciate this is not as clear as it could be.
These libraries are legacy libraries (more than 7 years old), and predate when the majority of our libraries where either licensed in Kontakt, or (more recently) available in our dedicated plugin. Whilst there are now examples on our site of where we have converted Legacy Kontakt Full libraries into the dedicated plugin (e.g. Felt Piano), we cannot guarantee at this stage that all of our libraries will get the same treatment. Additionally, part of the reason we were able to offer these Kontakt Full libraries at such a low cost as part of The Ton, was due to the fact that there was no licensing cost.
A tip I always point customers to who use our Kontakt Full libraries, is the Quick-Load feature in Kontakt, covered in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeXsX3Q4d7w&t=10s
This will speed up your workflow in terms of locating the specific .nki files you need.
All the best,
Angus
