If you own one of our "Player" libraries you will be able to add it via the Libraries tab in Kontakt and Kontakt Player. These libraries will appear in the left-most panel in Kontakt:
With the release of Kontakt 5.6.8 the installation process has changed. Please follow the following steps to add a library to this version or later. If you are on Kontakt 5.6.6 or earlier, you'll need to follow these steps instead.
If you are unsure whether your library is a Player library or not, there are a few quick and easy ways to confirm:
1) Your library came with a serial number (check here for a list of your accounts serial numbers)
2) Under "Product Info" on the product page, you'll see the text "FREE KONTAKT PLAYER INCLUDED"
Note: If your library does not have a serial number or states "KONTAKT FULL REQUIRED" on the product page, the below instructions will not applicable. In this case you would need to follow these steps for a non-player library.
Installing a Kontakt Player library
1) Open Kontakt and navigate to the Libraries tab, then click the Manage Libraries button as pictured.
2) Clicking this button will open your Kontakt settings. From here choose Launch Native Access. Native Access is available for download from here if need be.
3) Native Access will now open (if you are not logged in you'll be prompted to do so). Once logged in, choose "Add a serial" in the top-left corner of the window.
Native Access will now present you with the following screen:
4) Enter the 25-digit serial number that will have been included in your confirmation email, and then select Add Serial.
Note: You can find any serial numbers on your Spitfire Audio account here.
5) Once the serial number has been added you'll be prompted to view your "Products Not Installed" page. Choose this option and navigate to the library you're registering. For this example we'll be registering Albion V: Tundra.
6) Once you've found the library in question, choose Add Library. You'll now be prompted to navigate to the content location of the library. For Spitfire Audio libraries this would be the location that the Spitfire Audio App downloaded to, and in most cases will be named "Spitfire ... library" or "Spitfire Audio - ...".
In this example, we'd need to browse to the "Spitfire Albion V Tundra library" folder. Once you've selected the location, choose Select Folder.
7) Click Install in Native Access, and then navigate back to Kontakt. You should now see the library appear in your Libraries tab. If this is not the case despite the install being successful, it could be that the library is hidden by default. If this is the case please follow these steps.

What if the product comes with no serial number (as in the case of Sacconi strings)?
Hi Mike,
If a product comes with no serial number this is likely a 'non-player library', meaning that you'll need to load the instruments directly through the 'files' tab in Kontakt.
Best,
Luke
These libraries - without serial numbers - load as "demo" versions. What to do? Please?
I can run two stand alone versions of Kontakt - ie one that works with the two libraries I have with serial numbers and one that works with all the others - but I cannot load two versions of Kontakt as plug-ins in Logic Pro. Can I?
How do you add a library without a serial number? I just bought the Martyn Ware library for $99 and I can't even figure out how to add this to Kontakt.
@Luke seems like R Neylon needs an answer too...
Hi Dexter and R Neylon,
Libraries without serial numbers are those which require Kontakt full (not Kontakt player) Please see a quick guide on how to use these libraries here: https://spitfireaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007512594-How-It-Works-Loading-a-Non-Player-Library
R Neylon, there is no need to run two versions of Kontakt, the latest version of Kontakt full will work with both types of library.
Thanks
Sandy
Hi, I only have nine letters to authorise and I cant add a serial as I need more letters?
Hi Ray
It sounds like you are looking at your order reference and not your serial number, you should have received this number in your download ready email but it can also be found here https://www.spitfireaudio.com/my-account/serial-numbers/ whilst logged in.
my serial doesn't work. They say "the serial doesn’t belong to a known product…"
Mine also says it's a demo and times out. Is that because I'm using kontakt player? and not the full kontakt?
Hi Yuri,
Libraries without serial numbers are those which require Kontakt full (not Kontakt player) Please see a quick guide on how to use these libraries here: https://spitfireaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007512594-How-It-Works-Loading-a-Non-Player-Library

Hi, how can we see solo strings in Komplete Kontrol ?
because there is no previews sounds in kontakt ..
EDIT
Oh sorry, I just had to open Komplete Kontrol outside my DAW and rescan the library ^^
But I still have this problem with LABS plugin and it's not solved !
I am trying to load the LABS instruments into Kontakt, but there are no files that can be identified by Kontakt in any of the folder (the closest things are .multi -- no .nki or anything like that). I've repaired the folders and nothing has changed. What am I missing?
Hi Ryan
The new LABS are not Kontakt based at all, please see our getting started page for the LABS plugin here https://www.spitfireaudio.com/labs/getting-started/
Thanks
Sandy
i downloaded the Kontact and cant load my library! HELPPPPP - its on an external hard drive - what do the settings need to be !??!
Hello! I purchased scraped percussion (which says you need a full version of Kontakt to run. I have a full version of Kontakt; however, no serial number came with my purchase. Can you please help me out? I would love to work with a better interface for this instrument. It sounds lovely.
Hi Zachary,
Scraped percussion is what we call a "non-Player" library meaning it is not added like the guide above, instead you need to follow this guide to load instruments from the library:
https://spitfireaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007512594-How-It-Works-Loading-a-Non-Player-Library
Thanks
Sandy
I've seen it asked many times but not effectively answered, I too am getting the error that my serial (studio strings pro) does not belong to a known product. This is very frustrating as I purchased this library for a time sensitive project!
EDIT: Native access installed kontakt player 6 (I also have kontakt 5.8.1) both of which are advertised to work with this product.
Hi, I've just had a computer crash and am trying to get my percussion library up and running on a new computer. I'm trying to register with NA but it won't accept my serial number. It tells me it's already registered. Do I need a new serial number from you guys?
Hi Peter
You will see the "already registered" error if you try and register to a different NI account than you used initially when registering your serial. Since the license is for a single user, it can only be registered on one NI account.
If you're having difficulty with which NI account you used or think it might have been registered in error please open a support ticket with us and we'll be glad to help you get back up and running.
Thanks
Sandy
I just purchased Albion ONE and was running Kontakt 5.2.x. It appeared just fine but when I tried to use it Kontakt gave me an errror "This file was saved with a newer version".
I updated Kontakt to both 5.8.1 and also 6.2 (running both side by side) and now it doesn't show on the left hand OR under the Libraries tab of the libraries window for either.
I am desperate to get this running and I have opened a ticket but if there is a simple answer that can benefit everyone here it would be most helpful.
I should point out that I am on OSX 10.12.6 with 16GB of RAM and Albion One appears in my Native Access window as INSTALLED (even though it shows 1.5 - not 1.7 which is what I assume was downloaded today).
