If Phobos is a standalone plugin, how does it install?

Last updated:

As for all of our other products, this library is installed by our own Spitfire Audio App.

You’ll have to make sure you have the very latest version. When you first start to download the library, you will be asked where you’d like to install it. This is the location where we will store the samples, patches and presets.

VST and AU plugin files will be installed in the default system locations. The AAX plugin will be installed in the chosen installation folder.

Protools users should move it themselves into the location:

Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins (Mac)

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins (PC)

Would you clarify "VST and AU plugin files will be installed in the default system locations." for us newbies?

Hi Michael, sure. On a Mac, the VST and AU plugins are located here:

    Macintosh HD/Users/username/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Component
    Macintosh HD/Users/username/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
    Macintosh HD/Users/username/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

    And on a PC:

    Local Disk (C:)\Program files\VstPlugins

Hi Kostas, Phobos does not use Kontakt, it is a standalone plugin and is installed on your system as an AU, VST and AAX plugin.
